Are Botox Parties Worth All That Rave?

By Dr Tyng Tan

It has been the entire rave in Hollywood and some social circles, as many people want to mix fun while also looking young in the process. Now who wouldn’t want that? It seems like the perfect marriage of a good time and the right materials. But is it really advisable?

For many who have had Botox too many times before, they see nothing really major about the idea. You get a syringe, fill it with the solution and inject it on that particular area where you need it. This sounds all too simple, that many just go with it.

What could go wrong right?

But there are all sorts of misfortune that you could encounter with just a wrong angle of entry, a little too much push on that plunger, or that wrong assumption that your body will respond well with it.

As much as the entire procedure takes so little time and with seemingly easy mechanics, there is still that art and knowledge required for it to result to something attractive and successful.

That is why you should never entrust your face to just anyone. But sometimes there are parties where doctors themselves are invited to do the administration. But as the renowned Dr. Mehmet Oz said, a Botox injection is a real procedure. By that it means that it should be conducted under certain conditions – and a party is not the best venue to perform it.

Dr. Oz questions the way how doctors who provide Botox injections at parties practice their profession. First of all are they even making sure that a consent form is signed? This is a legal document which would support that you know what you are getting into, you understand the benefits and the accompanying risks should anything happen to you during or after the procedure.

Some doctors who practice with integrity would say that this is not the ideal way to do Botox injections.

Alcohol and Botox also do not mix well, because it increases your risk for developing bruises. As far as informed consent goes, you really won’t get a real one from someone who has some alcohol influence.

Another issue that would have to be tackled is patient confidentiality, which of course is impossible in a party setting. Even though the person receiving the injection allows it, there is still a question of why the doctor allows such practice to violate such tenets.

So Botox parties have been raising a lot of eyebrows, because mixing booze, a compromised environment and Botox doesn’t seem to fit well strictly speaking. I mean there has to be strict imposition of rules if we all want a safe treatment right?

But to look at it on another perspective, there are some benefits to Botox parties. One that never fails to attract is the much cheaper price compared to when you have it done in a clinic. The reason being is that they can get discounts since they would have to buy it in bulk. At these kinds of parties, you can get your injection at half the price!

But be a wise consumer. If you want to go ensure safety, follow the right way of conducting things. Botox injections may sound so simple, but under the wrong circumstance it can give you disheartening results.
